This half term the children have been working hard with Mrs. Fairs, after school during gardening club, to transform our garden area. Clearing the area and de-weeding the beds, before growing from seeds tomato plants, peas, lettuce, spinach, rocket, chives, pumpkins, beans and some sunflowers and marigold flowers. The children will be learning how these plants and flowers grow, along with where our food comes from and how it ends up in Supermarkets for us to buy.
This half term in book club, we are reading books by the wonderful author Julia Donaldson.
As we read, we talk about the features of the books, the characters, discuss what we think the story will be about, predict what might happen next and answer questions throughout.
So far we have read-
-The Stick Man
-The Everywhere Bear
The children have made a stickman out of a cardboard tube attaching tissue and sticky paper, and this week they are really enjoying making their own pet dragon out of sponge painted paper plates.
Every week, the children finish their club with writing their own review of the story.
