Chinese New Year

This week the children celebrated Chinese New Year.
We began the day with a whole school assembly where we learnt about Chinese New Year, watched a video about The Great Race and we used the Chinese Zodiac Wheel to find out that this is the year of the tiger! The children also found what their Chinese spirit animal was and were set a challenge to find out all the different animals that their family represented.
We split into groups and took part in lots of different craft activities throughout the day. We made Chinese rattle drums, paper dragons, tiger faces and painted Chinese blossom trees. We also tried some yummy Chinese food including noodles, spring rolls, egg fried rice, prawn toast and our favourite - prawn crackers!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day, helped their friends during the activities and enjoyed learning about this celebration.
