Personal, Social and Health Education

Combs Infants School is a friendly and caring school set hidden away in a beautiful rural environment. The children are supported and encouraged through lessons, assemblies and playtime to achieve their best in every aspect of their learning instilling a sense of fairness and an understanding of diversity. We nurture each individual child, respecting their individuals needs, helping them to develop a sense of pride and mutual respect for each other and our school within our inclusive community. As part of a whole school approach, PSHE develops qualities and attributes that children need to manage opportunities, challenges and responsibilities as they grow up, enabling them to thrive as individuals, family member and members of society.

At Combs Infant we follow a planned programme called PSHE Matters (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education). This enables us to help our pupils to
-Understand and respect common humanity, difference and diversity
-Form effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning
-Identify risks, practise decision-making and keeping themselves safe
-Learn to recognise their own value, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning
-Understand how they are developing personally and socially
-Tackle many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up
Our programme aims to assist the children in preparing for transitions to key stage two and above by supporting them through their physical, emotional and moral development, helping them to understand  and look after themselves, respect all others equally celebrating their individuality and being able to form and sustain healthy relationships.
