Education is the passport to success. Attendance is the stamp to get there.
Good attendance is over 96%
We are aspiring for attendance of 98% for all of our children.
Coming to school every day and on time is so important.
We work hard at Combs Infant School to support and encourage children and families to have great attendance.
Why is attendance important?
What we do to support good attendance
SIMPLE REMINDERS:
WHO CAN YOU SPEAK TO?
At Combs Infant School we believe that children can only achieve their full potential and access their full education if they have excellent attendance and punctuality.
In order to support parents to achieve this, we regularly monitor all children’s attendance.
If we are worried about your child’s attendance we will contact you to let you know that we are monitoring this. Is your child’s attendance is approaching 95% you will received a letter to inform you of this, if your child’s attendance falls below 95%, you will receive a second reminder. If it then falls below 90% we may invite you into school for an attendance meeting with our Family Support Worker and attendance Officer. The purpose of the meeting is to find out if there are any issues that we are unaware of and to offer support and advice.
If your child's attendance does not improve then it is possible that legal proceedings may be started. We will do everything we can to avoid parents being issued with a fine, but please appreciate that it is parent’s responsibility to ensure good attendance.
Both classroom doors are open from 8.30am (children who are attending breakfast club can arrive from 8.00am)
If your child is absent for any reason, then it is important that you ring school asap to let us know the reason why. If your child needs to attend a medical appointment then please bring in their appointment card or letter so this can be authorised.
If you require any further information or support please speak to Miss Joanna Sweatmore, Headteacher, Mrs Smith, our Business Officer or Miss Tara Crossland, our Business Officer.
Please see below our attached Attendance Information Leaflet, our most recent Attendance Policy and Derbyshire County Council’s ‘Penalty notices advice for parents and carers’ information.
Your child’s education and welfare are at the heart of our work on attendance. Combs Infant School thanks you for your support on this matter.
